One of the clusters at the University is the Serendipity Cluster

This HPC cluster is a collection of many separate servers (computers), called nodes, which are connected via a fast interconnect.

There may be different types of nodes for different types of tasks. The HPC cluster listed on this wiki has

a headnode or login node, where users log in

  • regular compute nodes (where computations are running)

This cluster is based on the Slurm scheduler running on Ubuntu.

Hardware Specifications Serendipity Cluster

Node nameOSCoresMemoryCPUpurchase date
serendipity Ubuntu 20.04 28 cores 256 Gb Xeon CPU E5-2680 v4 @ 2.40GHz 13 December 2016
serendipity01-16 Ubuntu 20.04 40 cores 256 Gb Xeon CPU E5-2698 v4 @ 2.20GHz 13 December 2016

The nodes are connected by InfiniBand and the cluster is located in “het SeinHuis”.

Login Nodes

You can connect to the headnode : serendipity.ewi.utwente.nl

We now use the new Slurm scheduler instead of searching for a free node and run our calculations
