One of the clusters at the University is the MSM3 Cluster
This HPC cluster is a collection of many separate servers (computers), called nodes, which are connected via a fast interconnect.
There may be different types of nodes for different types of tasks. The HPC cluster listed on this wiki has
a headnode or login node, where users log in
This cluster is based on the Slurm scheduler running on Ubuntu.
Node name | Cores | Memory | CPU | purchase date |
---|---|---|---|---|
msm3 | 18 cores (HT 36) | 128 Gb | Xeon CPU E5-2695 v4 @ 2.10GHz | 24 November 2016 |
msm3node01-03 | 36 cores (HT 72) | 192 Gb | Xeon CPU E5-2695 v4 @ 2.10GHz | 23 Oktober 2016 |
msm3node04-11 | 36 cores (HT 72) | 64 Gb | Xeon CPU E5-2695 v4 @ 2.10GHz | 24 November 2016 |
The nodes are connected by InfiniBand and the cluster is located in “het SeinHuis”.
You can connect to the headnode : msm3.ctw.utwente.nl
We now use the new Slurm scheduler instead of searching for a free node and run our calculations

During the maintenance day, the whole cluster will go offline.
The cluster machines run on Ubuntu 20.04, some basic packages in the repositories have been installed. Additional software is available using module files.
See the MSM3-cluster Software page for more information.
